Sarzamin e Aftab:

Ahmad Batebi, the Iranian student activist, has been re-arrested without explanation on 28 July 2006 in front of his home by plain-clothed Information Ministry agents. His home and personal belongings were searched with many possessions confiscated before Batebi was subsequently imprisoned. In protest Batebi has been on hunger strike since his arrest on 28 July 2006 and now there are grave fears for his health. These fears have been heightened due to the recent unexplained and suspicious death in prison of another political prisoner, Akbar Mohammadi (http://hrw.org/english/docs/2006/08/03/iran13895.htm).
The prison officials have allowed no communication between Batebi and either his family or his lawyer.
For background information about Batebi please see the following release by Amnesty International: http://hrw.org/english/docs/2006/08/03/iran13895.htm
Please help us in our plight for freedom in Iran by adding your voice in support of our concerns. We demand the safe release of Ahmad Batebi whose life is in danger after more than one week on hunger strike.
